Chassis Focus - New F1 Exotek - Darren Newton
At swifts we are always lucky to see a lot of the latest F1 tech first hand as it's usually brought to our venue for testing. This also includes our championships as at Round 3 of the Autumn Shoot Out we were invited to check out Darren Newton's new Exotek. Darren is sponsored by the manufacturer and has helped develop this latest creation. Exotek's background is from creating stronger, lighter replacement parts for other kits. However, this doesn't seem apparent in this new chassis as the its full of fresh developments and cool looking parts.
Autumn Shoot Out - R3 Race Report
Sunday saw the penultimate round of the Autumn Shoot Out series. Held at C.A.R.S in Chesterfield, Round 3 saw a field of over 50 entries. Unfortunately none of the WGT 10 racers made it to the event so the class had to be cancelled. Luckily, C.A.R.S had allowed the addition of a LMP classes to be run and practise alongside the championship. Everything was set for another great meeting.
Autumn Shoot Out - R2 Race Report
On Sunday, Round 2 of the Autumn Shoot Out was held at Swifts Raceway where the attendance had shot up after the successful first round. There was also the addition of a new class. With the first round of the LMP Nationals coming up, we offered some of our club members the chance to get some LMP practice in on a championship style event. Once again the track had been setup the night before and racers were welcomed to a little more technical track than round 1. Like the first round, the atmosphere in the pits was on a high but with a few more secret rivalries hiding in the shadows.
Clubmans Q&A - Craig Mawson
On the 1st November 2015, Swifts Raceway will be hosting a BRCA Regional race for the North Midlands GT Clubman’s Series. The Regional’s are meant to be the step from club racing to National racing, it’s an event to help new comers get a taste of what big competitions are really about. To help with all this we thought we’d quiz one of the experts. Who could be better to answer our questions than the reigning Regional and GT12 Clubman champion, Craig Mawson.
Autumn Shoot Out - R1 Race Report
Sunday saw the start our new Autumn Shoot Out series we are co hosting with the C.A.R.S club in Chesterfield. Based on the BRCA GT series for GT12, WGT and F1, it would be shared between two of the best tracks in the Derbyshire region. Round 1 was to be hosted by C.A.R.S track and with good line of top racers everything was set for a great race meeting. The track layout was a little wider than traditional Shoot Out tracks which really suited the WGT and F1 cars. It also looked to tighten up the GT12 times. The event also started with a very relaxed atmosphere with far too many jokes flying around for 8AM in the morning.
