4 Hours of Swifts - Rules
About the Race
The 4 Hours of Swifts Raceway is a GT12 Endurance race held at the Swifts Raceway circuit. The race is open to GT12 racers of all abilities. There will be two classes available; GT12-WORKS and GT12-PRO. The WORKS class is aimed at teams who have backing from a RC related business or club. The PRO class is for general club racers who feel they would not have the facilities or support that a backed team would have. Both classes will race at the same time making it a true endurance event like the great Le Mans 24 Hours.

Rules
Our rules generally follow the class rules set by the BRCA. As this is not an official BRCA race event, the rules will be a little more relaxed. However, if anyone is found to be pushing the rules to a unfair advantage then the Race Officials will inspect the car before making a decision to the team.
1. General Rules
1.1 Car rules
For both classes the team chassis must meet the following rules:
GT12 Chassis must be BRCA approved
Electrics must be from the BRCA approved list (Batteries, motors and ESC's)
1s Battery
1s ESC
13.5 turn motor limit
All ESC's must be run in blinky mode
The overall weight of the car must be kept over 950 grams
Only BRCA approved GT12 foam tyres permitted
Only BRCA approved water based additives permitted
Teams can pick their own race number between 11 and 99. They will keep this number for whole event.
1.2 Racing standards
Teams will marshal their own team car. The team member who is marshalling for the team will need to wear a high-vis vest while they are out marshalling. Designated areas round the track will be highlighted for marshals to wait in.
Reckless racers who fail to allow lapping cars past or aggressively cause incidents will be forced to change with another member of their team.
Rules for lapping are the same as normal racing where the car with more laps has authority. If a car with less laps is attempting to overtake, the lead car does not need to move off their racing line and can defend in a controlled manor.
Aggressive blocking from the lead car will result in a 10 second stop and go penalty (completed by the offending racer within 5 laps)
Aggressive attacking that leads to a collision by the chasing car will result in a 10 second stop and go penalty (completed by the offending racer within 5 laps)
A race steward will advise when teams need to allow a faster team past. It is advised that you let any car passed that appears to be lapping faster (even if they are behind you in laps). Endurance racing is more about survival than on-track race battles. There will be a lot of overtaking which can be very costly if it goes wrong.
Any racers found swearing or using aggressive language towards other racers will be forced to leave the rostrum and change with a team mate. If they continue to be aggressive they (and possibly their team) will be asked to leave the event.
1.3 Pit Stops
Pits stops must be completed off the track surface. Racers must park in the pit lane if they wish to perform a pit stop. A car can only be retrieved from another part of the circuit if it has crashed out and received damage.
Only batteries can be changed next to the pit lane. All other maintenance (repairs, tyre changes, tyre additive application, etc) needs to be completed at the teams pit table.
If you need to check the car for damage or over heating this must be completed via a normal pit stop.
2. GT12-WORKS Additional Rules
This is the top class for the endurance race. To qualify for the class the team will need to be backed by a representative of the hobby. This can be either a manufacturer, hobby shop or RC racing club. The team is also expected to have a good line up of experienced national level racers.
Represented by a business or club of the hobby
Team must contain some experienced, top level racers
Teams body shell must be off a professional design and quality
3. GT12-PRO Additional Rules
This is a class aimed for general club racers. The class is still open to teams that have sponsorship or backing but they are not expected to be of a higher level with racer experience and equipment.
Teams body shell must be off a professional design and quality
4. Additional Health and Safety
Hi-vis vests are to be wore when marshaling for the team. If you marshal your team car without a hi-vis vest then your team will occur a 10 second stop and go penalty.
All batteries are to be charged in a lipo safe charging bag and the charging output must not exceed 10amps.
All racers must have a valid BRCA license to ensure they have sufficient race insurance.
All racers must bring a pit towel to protect the venues tables.
3 Hours of Swifts Test Track
The 3 Hours of Swifts Test Track is a Tamiya M Chassis Endurance race held at the Swifts Test Track, Sheffield. The race is open to MINI racers of all abilities. Team will be made up of a minium of two drivers and will have to share the driving evenly. All team will be issued with a handout motor to use for the event.
Teams can pick their own race number between 11 and 99. They will keep this number for whole event. If you have any questions regarding the information and rules below please contact us.
Club Meeting
Our fortnightly club meetings have something for everyone. The meetings are generally a relaxed affair with a lot of friendly banter between racers. When the doors open at 9AM everyone usually helps in setting up the track so that no track time is wasted. After that the meeting generally run smoothly with 4 rounds of qualifying and 1 final per heat. We use very similar facilities to what are normally used for our national events. The same Prima GT carpet and track markers are used so the meetings are great for practicing on if you're racing in one of the nationals.
The racing is open to most indoor classes. If there aren't enough racers to make up a class race then we sometimes merge the classes so that track time is not wasted. The heats are created with class and ability in mind so that the racing is close for everyone. If you are beginner starting out or trying to push your skills to the next level, our club meetings are a great place to learn new skills and setups. There's usually a expert in most classes at the meetings so we can always find you someone who is willing to help you improve.
